I'm in LOVE!!!

Melissa is always faster than I am!! I realize she has already posted pictures and blogged about the big event!! However, I am the grandma, and I need to have my own post...from my perspective. So read on if you don't mind hearing me gush.

On Monday morning Melissa called me to let me know that she had started having some contractions. I hurry and packed the car. I had a lot to do because Tim and Megan and I had arrived home on Sunday night after being at the cabin for the week. Tim had a flight to Atlanta on Monday and I was planning on one day to do laundry, and prepare to leave. So after talking to Melissa I kicked it into fast gear to get prepared. Just after 3:00 p.m. I talked to Melissa and she said that her contractions were getting so she could time them. I was exhausted and worried about making the seven hour drive without resting first. I told her I would run to the bank and then lay down for 30 minutes and we would leave by 4:00 p.m. if things were still progressing. I figured with Hannah being her first baby, we would have at least a 12 hour window of time By the time we walked out the door it was 4:19 and we had one stop to make, so we were on the road by 4:24. Melissa and Adam hadn't gone to the hospital yet, so we didn't know if we had jumped the gun or not. By the time we were at about Draper, they were headed for the hospital. Our drive to Vegas went by really fast!! Megan and I didn't dare stop. We kept receiving updates from Adam and things were progressing along. We talked to Melissa a couple of times too and she sounded great. Each time we talked to them, my speed increased. I know I caught myself going around 95 mph a few times, even though I tried to stay around 83 mph. I was also a little worried about finding the hospital and was a little worried that it was on the south part of Las Vegas. As we drove into Vegas, Tim was on the phone and computer in Atlanta at 1:00 a.m. (Atlanta time) guiding us to the hospital. Melissa had let us know it was getting really close. She told us we needed to go into the emergency entrance and have them buzz us into the elevator to head to the second floor. We went running into the emergency entrance and I told them that my daughter was giving birth and I needed to get to the room immediately. They quickly showed me the way to the delivery room. I walked into the room at 10:15 p.m. (Las Vegas time) and Hannah was born at 10:28. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life to watch my daughter bring her daughter into this world. It was HEAVENLY!!

Hannah is a beautiful girl. She is so sweet and I can feel of her spirit in an incredible way. It is a miracle and I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to witness this miracle.

I found out one reason why everyone tells me it is great being a grandma. Last night before I went to bed I told Melissa and Adam to wake me up for the "night shift" with Hannah. When I woke up eight hours later, I thought to myself "Wow, Hannah must of slept really well last night and they didn't need my help." About 20 minutes later Adam and Melissa woke up said that they had slept about three hours. So today, I got to be on the day shift and I was able to hold and love Hannah while they took a nap. I LOVE the day shift. I guess day shifts are for GRANDMA'S. Megan and I took turns holding Hannah for three hours and played dress-up with Hannah. It was fun!! I think Hannah liked it too. She didn't fuss once!!

Tonight I think we might do a photo shoot with Hannah. I would recommend being a grandma!!
Stay turn for more pictures...I don't have my cord for my camera so my pictures will have to come later.

Margie I liked reading your perspective. You are going to be a wonderful Grandma.

PS I think it's better that Betty take the day shift also ;-)
