The preparation started by shopping for the dress. Usually when it comes to shopping, Megan likes to look at all her options. It can take a long time to find the perfect item. I must admit, I am the same way, so it works out quite nicely since both of us enjoy the hunt; (except when it comes to swimsuit shopping, neither of us like that!!). However this time it was different. At the first store we went to, she started to pour through the racks of dresses when one of the sales clerks pulled a dress from out of now where and THERE IT WAS. She did not find the dress, the dress found her. It was a perfect fit!!! When she put it on, it felt like a dramatic Gone With the Wind moment when Scarlet appears on the big screen.
The excitement mounted as Megan and her friends got together Friday night to have a pre-prom get together where they painted nails and watched movies, ate low fat snacks haha, and talked boys (or at least that is what I imagine they did).
Then after going to play laser tag for her day date activity, Lindsey Howell who is a friend of Sean's and is currently attending the ATC hair school came over to do Megan's hair. Megan had found a style she liked out of a magazine, and Lindsey went to work. Shortly after Haylee, Katie and Madi (three of Megan's friends) showed up to do their makeup and to be together getting ready. Then our own Emily Leger came up from to do Megan's makeup. Megan really liked the way Emily did her makeup at our Marsden girl party, so Emily was so nice to come pamper Megan for her big night.
While Emily was busy at work, Madi was doing touch ups on Megan's nails!!
Two and half hours later...Megan was ready!! This is one time, that pictures DON'T do justice!! But I know you all have a great imagination and can picture it.
Caleb Walker (Megan's date) was five minutes early to pick her up, but she was ready!! When he put on her wrist corsage, he was shaking (poor boy). Tim and I tried not to be too scary. Later in the night when they were asked if they were hot...Caleb said, Megan is!! They had a great time, going to the Union Grill where Megan had Salmon (one of her favorites) then to the dance that was held at Weber State University and then out for ice cream.
Cinderella was home just before midnight.
Sunday morning we had a 7:30 a.m.meeting for ward conference that Megan had to attend. Normally we don't endorse the girls wearing their Prom dresses to church the next day. We have already heard about that from Melissa...(thanks for taking another one for the team Meliss). But for the first time that I know of...every Jr. girl had been asked to Prom this year, so their Young Women's leader encouraged them to wear their MODEST dresses to church to set an example of wearing modest dresses to the pre-sixteen girls in Young Women's.
Even after sleeping in her hair and makeup and throwing her dress on minutes before we had to leave, one of the Stake leaders turned to Megan, and said "I just want to pinch you to make sure you are real".
P.S. I believe it took Sean twenty minutes to get ready for Prom. Can you relate those of you with boys!!

That dress is magnificent!! And what a cute couple. (Of course I'm really only looking how gorgeous Megan looks). I hope it was the dream date that Megan always deserves.
P.S. Bryan took 30 minutes to get ready for his date on Saturday.
...boys...(sigh)
Megan looks beautiful!! I hope she had a wonderful time at prom. She sure looks happy.
Normally I wouldn't want a boy saying my granddaughter is "hot" but I have to agree, she is gorgeous. Scarlett O'Hara eat your heart out. Beautiful girl and what she does for the dress!!!!!!!!!
Megan looks great! I love her dress!
Yes, it is incomprehensible to me to see it take so long to get ready for a school dance. Even one as important as the prom. When Taylor went to Homecoming this year he had been at a band competition that day (so had his date). He arrived home at 6:30 pm and was out the door by 7pm to pick up his date.
Once, the mother of one of my sons prom date called to tell me, "I hope he plans to take her somewhere nice for dinner! As much money as I spent on her he should take her somewhere where EVERYONE can see how beautiful she is."
Davis High's jr. prom is this coming Saturday.
Megan you look wonderful! Goodness girl you are growing up way to fast. The dress is gorgeous and I love it when you find it instantly. I hope the night was a good one cause you definately deserve the best. Margie I don't know how long it took Sean to get ready for his Sr. Prom but all I can say is my heart started beating really fast when he walked through the door!:)
Megan is so gorgeous! I'm so glad I got to see her in her dress, it was stunning on her. Right as I got to my car, her date pulled up and seemed to take a nervous little breath in as he ran up the steps to your house. He was very cute, and from the pix I can see they made a very cute dance couple! ;) Glad she had a fun time!
What a gorgeous girl Megan is! She made that dress look really dreamy. I hope she had the date of her high school life.
When Tara was in high school, I felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown every time there was a big school dance including the prom. Prep time took days. And let's not even talk about the expense. Repressed memory. One time we actually had the hair dresser make a house call. I'm glad my daughter in high school stage is over.
Margie, thanks for taking time to explain why girls wear their prom dresses to church. I always thought it's pretty hokey, but now I get it.
