waiting for Les Mis to begin.
The Les Mis experience really began with Melissa in 1991 when Tim and I went to London together for the first time. My sister Karen had arrange for tickets for us to go to Les Mis. I knew nothing about it. I had heard it was good, but that was about it. Remember that was over seventeen years ago, and nothing like that had come to Salt Lake. I will never forgot that first time seeing it in London. It was powerful!! Both Tim and I became instant fans of the music and story. When we came home from England, I can remember we bought the CD and started listening to it. Melissa was fascinated by the music. She was only 5 1/2 at the time. I remember sitting down with her and telling her the story of Les Mis. She was hooked. She would listen to the music and sing along. Now fast forward to 2004, 13 1/2 years later, I was in the same theater with Melissa waiting for the production to begin as we listened to the orchestra play. Melissa burst into tears. She couldn't hold it back. She had waited 13 1/2 years for this moment.

I love the beauty you have shown me in this world. "You raise me up".
I will be driving to Bountiful two more times this week for birthday celebrations, any suggestions for more 45 minute concerts? I does make the time go faster!!

We love Les Mis too! Jillian and I have seen it 3 times together, and have been moved to tears each time. I recommend "Wicked" for your next car trip...Grace had all the lyrics to it memorized when she was 3 :)
I'm glad I grew up in a home where the arts and beautiful, uplifting things were important too.
I felt very lucky to see Les Mis in Paris, and have seen it several times in SLC. Jeremy grew up loving to listen to Les Mis as well, and was FINALLY able to see it for the first time last year.
What a sweet tribute to Melissa, too! ;)
I recommend "The Secret Garden".
I love Les Mis, too. I've seen it 2x, on Broadway in NY with Alan and in San Francisco with Tara. That's really touching that Melissa was moved to tears the first time she went to see it.
I don't really have a specific favorite soundtrack to recommend for your listening pleasure :-) But I have a best of a Broadway CD and I like listening to that one.
I've never seen Le Mis. I know nothing about it, or the music.
I've never seen a broadway production outside of SLC. In fact, I've only seen one (twice). Beauty and the Beast.
I have no suggestions for your next trip to Bountiful. But I'm glad you were able to feel a connection with Melissa during your last drive. Tender moment!
Hey I found you off of Melissa's blog! I love Les Mis music! I want to see it so bad! By the way I love the family picture!
