On November 16th, 1989 I was given a precious gift. Sean was born!! For the previous twenty months I had plead with the Lord for a baby. During that time I had suffered three long-term miscarriages. After I found out I was pregnant with Sean, Tim and I went to our bishop to receive a Priesthood blessing. We were both so discouraged! I was told in that blessing that I would give birth to a healthy baby. Our bishop and his wife had never been able to conceive children. The bishop later told me that he knew it was the Lord's will that I would have that baby. After suffering much disappointment himself, he didn't want to say that. Early on in the pregnancy I was put on bed rest for one month. I remember a member of our Stake Presidency who I didn't know personally, called me at 7:00 a.m. one morning to tell me that he had put my name in the temple. I have always been so grateful for the faith and prayers in my behalf to have Sean.
Ten weeks prior to Sean's birth, I was put on bed rest again. While on bed rest, I spent hours watching videos with Melissa. One of her favorites to watch over and over again was Mary Poppins. The night he was born, I wanted so badly to climb out my hospital window and run around singing "Let's go fly a kite". I had never felt such JOY in all my life. I knew that Heavenly Father had blessed me. Sean has brought me so much joy and happiness the past 19 years.
When Sean was just three years old we went shopping at Dick's Market. He wanted me to buy some Nacho Cheese Doritos chips. I started explaining to Sean that buying Nacho Cheese Doritos chips wasn't a good decision because they weren't on sale. I kept on shopping and after a few minutes, Sean said to me "I bet Laman and Lemuel would buy those chips because they make bad choices." Sean has always had a clear sense of right and wrong. And he strives to make good choices.
Even though Sean is the middle child, he is also the only boy which gives him a special place in our family. He has had the benefits to go to Jazz games, soccer trips, U of U games etc. He even adopted the same clap at Tim when they are cheering for their favorite team. Last weekend when Sean was home, he and Tim woke up at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday morning to watch Arsenal play Man United on the Internet.
He has also had the benefit of being in the middle of two sisters so he has a good understanding of girls and how they work. This knowledge has benefited him in his dating life!
Both of his sister adore him!! The day after he received his mission call, I probably received no less than twenty phone calls from Melissa telling me things about Australia that she had either learned from Adam or the Internet.
It has been really fun the past few years having Sean and Megan in school together. Both Megan and I miss having Sean at Weber High. I have often referred to Megan and Sean as "partners" since they have grown up so close to each other.

Friends have always been a big part of Sean's life too. He has many wonderful friends that I love. His friends are really important to him, and he has always been a good friend to others.
We laugh because it seems like he is on the phone with either "hey dude" or "yea man" a lot.

Sean has worked really hard in life to get him to the point he is at. When he was a baby, Tim used to call him "Sean the wee man" (with an Irish accent). As a baby he looked like he had wisdom beyond his years. He has always been really smart and wise with money. He strives to be obedient and when he has fallen short, he sincerely asks for forgiveness, or readily admits he is wrong. He is charming with me and is so good to express his love. He is a kind son.
Sean has a wonderful testimony that he is not afraid to share. When he was seminary President at Weber High he had many opportunities to share is testimony both in word and in deed. I have been lucky to be at the high school and see the way he treated others and stood up for what was right, even when it wasn't popular. Sean is well respected. I love to feel of his spirit as he shares his testimony. I'm so excited for him to serve a mission. We will all miss you terribly Sean, but we wouldn't have it any other way. I love you and will always consider you a gift from a loving Heavenly Father. You have greatly blessed my life.

Margie I loved the first picture on Sean's post. How precious. Did I ever tell you that Dr. Steele went to the same mission that Sean is going to? Tender moment. Happy Birthday Sean, you are a great young man (insert Irish accent).
Happy Birthday Sean. I remember being at the hospital shortly after you were born. In fact I have video of the "U" lite up to celebrate your birth. At the time others may have thought that it was because the "U" was playing the "Y" that Saturday but I knew better. You lite up my life.
Happy Birthday Sean!! What a great yong man you are and such a great cousin! Alan has always thought very highly of you! Thanks for not only being a fun cousin for him (and the other boys) but also a really good friend!
Who Loves Sean? MEH!
Happy Birthday Sean!! Hey Margie he read it on my laptop this morning and he kept chucking to himself. Thanks for raising such a great son!
OMGosh Marge! This post didn't show up either on my reader or blog roll, which is how I keep track of whether someone has a new post so I can go and read. I was thinking maybe you didn't post because Melissa did. Then today I decided to just open your blog, and here's Sean's birthday post. I feel soooooo bad! We love Sean and the fact that I failed to post a comment on his birthday post makes me feel awful!
Well, I just hope you guys know how much we love him. He is such a shining example to his cousins and always a courteous pleasant young man to the "older" members of the family. You are so blessed to have him as a son.
(P.S. maybe this post didn't show up on my google reader or blog roll because it doesn't have a title?)
I missed this one too. Sorry.
Where is that pedestal stuck in the rocks, that Sean is standing on? It looks very precarious.
