Days of '47....

One might think since it is now July, and living in Utah, when you talk about the Days of '47 you would be be referring to the July 24th holiday. However, this year, it is taking on a different meaning since today is Tim's 47th birthday, and he will be living the "days of 47"!! The really crazy part about this for me is that I have known Tim for over 30 of those years, and can I just say...time flies when you are having fun! He is an awesome man and had the biggest influence on me since the day I met him. He continues to influence and teach me daily. He is a wonderful husband and father and friend. I have always looked up to him, not just because he is 6'2", but because of his example and desire to do what is right and to be the best possible person he can be. He is a very devoted and dedicated husband and father and is a man of integrity and honor. Beside all of that, he has the greatest sense of humor and he knows how to lighten me up, when I need it and that has been a great blessing in my life. He is the ultimate family man, and I have always appreciated that so much as he strives to work so hard to create fun and balance in our lives. He knows how to work hard and play hard. About three years ago, Tim came to me and asked me what I thought of him going back to school to get his MBA. It was intense to think about since at that time he was in the Bishopric and of course working full time etc... It was amazing to watch how hard he worked! He finished top in his MBA class!! After graduation, the group of graduates and their "significant others" got together for a party. The subject came up as to who was the Valedictorian of their class. Tim just sat quietly as two of the other students confessed their GPA's and took credit for tying for top of the class. Tim's GPA was higher!! I was dying to blurt out Tim's GPA, but I could tell he didn't want me to say anything. When I asked him why he didn't say anything, he just responded that it wouldn't do anyone any good, and would leave two of the graduated feeling bad.
Tim is a great example of integrity. I can trust him in everything. I can remember when I was in college talking with a group of girls and we were listing the qualities and characteristics of what we wanted in a husband. As we were listing things like good looks, money etc...I remember one of the girls said she wanted integrity in her husband. When Melissa was 3 years and one day old, we took her to the zoo. When we read that under 3 was free, I shamelessly suggested that Melissa was only one day past her birthday, and we could still get her in for free. Tim said, "even though no one would know, I would". He paid the money. I have always remembered his example and appreciated his integrity.
Tim is such a fun person to be around. He always makes me laugh, and brings so much fun into our family. There seems to always be some sort of party going on when Tim is around. He can make an ordinary drive to the grocery store fun, by putting on music or telling a great story or observation about his day.
Tim is not just a wonderful husband, but he is a wonderful dad too. He loves his children, and they love him! He is all about love, and they can feel that. He has a great desire for each of them to be happy. He works very hard for all of us and he wants the best for them. He has always been very dedicated to all of us. He loves our extended families too. He is so supportive and make an effort to stay close.
Finally, Tim is my best friend! I love him so much and I am so grateful he is my husband!! I could go on and on about how wonderful he is. Tim, I am amazed by you! I hope you have a wonderful birthday!! Here is a big birthday kiss...and there is more where that came from...sorry TMI (except for TIM) I love you!

What a beautiful post and tribute to "R-Timothy". Thanx Margie. I remember the day he was born, I was there. Days of 47, a clever title. He is a great man, reminds me of someone else I know. God Bless you son, every day of your life.

Margie that was a great tribute to Tim!! I loved reading it. Your title was so clever and I was thinking TMI (or TIM as we say) when you said time flies when you're having fun...Tim is a great brother and I love him. Happy Birthday Tim!!

Happy Birthday Uncle Tim! Margie, I hope you know that we admire Tim and look up to him so much! He has been a wonderful example to Jeremy his whole life, and to me over the last few years that I have been in the family. We can "see" all the qualities in Tim that you listed, and love him for being who he is! I would have been dying to spill the beans about his gpa too, but what a humble guy he is to just let it go! I loved that story, thanks for sharing!

These are great days, these days of '47! Happy Birthday, Tim. We've always known you are a wonderful man and just a great example to all of us. But we're glad Margie wrote about it because the world needs to know how blessed this family is because you are YOU!

From Alan:

Tim, you're a great big brother and I forgive you for tossing my little bucket into the surf at San Clemente in 1969 and all the times you stuck smelly socks into my face as I lay in bed, etc. and for leaving me out in the car for hours the night you got home from your mission as you and Margie got reacquainted. Seriously, you've been a mentor and friend and I appreciate it.

Tim has always been one of my favorite brothers! There has never been a time where he hasn't been anything but good and kind and patient with me. Perhaps that's because I let him play with my barbies on Chrismtas??? I love you Tim and hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!
